Fifty years after Britain's foremost underground band released their debut album Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Pink Floyd remain one of the biggest brand names and best-loved bands in the world. This film features extended archive footage, some of it rarely or never seen, alongside original interviews with the four surviving members of Pink Floyd - David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason - and traces the journey of a band that has only ever had five members, three of whom have lead the band at different stages of its evolution.

A band that has spanned 40 years pioneering everything from underground rock to the stadium extravaganza, a band that has survived tragedy and shunned celebrity and wrestled publicly with both it's success and it's audience. There have been five members of the band three of which have lead the band in different decades and that's why the question still remains, which one is pink? This film examines the band and it's history in order to discover how they became so successful.

The five directors, John Ford, William Wyler, John Huston, Frank Capra, and George Stevens, return to Hollywood after the war but are forever haunted by what they saw. Ford goes on a drinking bender after filming the carnage at D-Day. Stevens is wholly unprepared for the horrors of Dachau and realizes he is not there to film propaganda but to capture evidence of crimes against humanity. Wyler, who lost his hearing during the war, fears his career is over. Huston chronicles soldiers suffering from postraumatic stress disorder in the film Let There Be Light, only to have it suppressed by the U.S. government.

What is Synthwave? An irresistible blend of nostalgia and music; of creative processes and cultural references; of re-appropriation and legitimate creation. Is a random revival or an emerging cultural phenomenon? Narrated by iconic director John Carpenter, the film is a journey back and forth in time, from to the roots of this scene to its impact on today's pop culture, from the universe of creating sounds to the Synthwave Music. He has witnessed some of the major events of our recent history; international conflicts, starvation and exodus. He is now embarking on the discovery of pristine territories, of wild fauna and flora, and of grandiose landscapes as part of a huge photographic project, which is a tribute to the planet's beauty". Sebastião Salgado's life and work are revealed to us by his son, Juliano, who went with him during his last travels, and by Wim Wenders, himself a photographer.
