An engineering revolution is underway. Driven by dedicated individuals who are building extraordinary machines that will change our lives. The first episode follows the race to generate vast power from thin air - the wind. One of the world’s biggest wind farms is being built off the English coast where the harsh conditions pose great cha ...llenges for the team. Meanwhile, a Norwegian team is striving to build the first-ever floating wind farm.

During 1964-1969 both sides now plan to put a man on the Moon - while the Soviets struggle, the Americans pull ahead in the space race with Project Gemini, but then suffer a disaster with the Apollo 1 fire. The Soviet space programme suffers its own blows: Sergei Korolev dies when his heart fails during an operation, Soyuz 1 crashes and kills ... cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov, and their planned moon rocket, the N-1 rocket, fails to successfully launch. In America, von Braun has difficulties with the Saturn V, but they are overcome, and the rocket successfully launches the first manned lunar mission, Apollo 8, and the first manned lunar landing, Apollo 11.

Scientists investigate the way the Sun builds its power -- through fusion -- hoping to find a way to use fusion as a less dangerous and less radioactive waste-producing path to energy than fission. But there are some major difficulties along the way. Fusion really is the perfect way to make energy. We have millions of years worth of fuel. It ...produces no long-lived radioactive waste. If we can solve the engineering challenges, energy will become cheaper, more available for everybody.
