Barbarians Season 1 Ep 1-3

   2020    History    HD
Click CC for subtitles. Torn between the Roman Empire that raised him and the Germanic people into which he was born, a Roman officer finds himself trapped between loyalty, identity and rebellion. As Rome tightens its grip over the tribes beyond the Rhine, resentment grows and old bonds are tested. At the center of the conflict stands Arminius, a man shaped by Roman discipline but increasingly confronted with the suffering of his own people, while Thusnelda and Folkwin become symbols of defiance against an empire that demands obedience at any cost. Based on real historical events and figures, the series reinforces its sense of authenticity by using Latin and Germanic dialogue, helping recreate the cultural and historical setting of the period as faithfully as possible.
In the first three episodes, tensions erupt when the Cherusci are pushed beyond endurance by Governor Varus’s demands. Thusnelda and Folkwin strike a provocative blow against Roman authority by stealing the legion’s sacred eagle standard, triggering a brutal response. The crisis brings Arminius back face to face with his father Segimer and with the childhood friends he left behind. Ordered by Varus to hunt down Folkwin and return with his head, Arminius is forced into an impossible choice as Roman reprisals threaten Folkwin’s family, his village and the fragile loyalties that bind them all together.

The Americas Ep 7-8

   2025    Nature    HD
In episodes 7 and 8 of the series, the journey moves from the towering Andes to the tropical Caribbean, revealing two worlds where wildlife survives through astonishing specialization. In the Andes, spectacled bears guide their cubs down perilous cliffs, rare marvelous spatuletail hummingbirds fight and dance for mates, frogs endure freezing nights high beside retreating glaciers, torrent ducks master near-boiling mountain rivers, and thousands of flamingos gather at toxic high-altitude lakes in spectacular courtship displays.
The Caribbean offers an entirely different struggle for survival. Sailfish coordinate high-speed attacks on sardine shoals, sperm whales dive into the deep around Dominica, millions of red crabs cross Cuba’s forests on their migration to the sea, and animals on isolated islands develop remarkable ways to exploit scarce resources. On Isla Jicarón, white-faced capuchins even learn to use stones as tools to crack nuts, showing how intelligence and adaptation can make the difference between survival and failure in paradise.

The Housemartins in London 0 Hull 4

   1986    Art
The Housemartins return to Hull during their breakthrough year of 1986 and revisit the places where the band began. Paul Heaton, Stan Cullimore, Norman Cook and Hugh Whitaker talk about forming the group, their sudden success and their determination to remain rooted in ordinary life despite growing fame. The film follows them through Hull, mixes informal conversations with rehearsals and performances, and includes songs such as Happy Hour, Sheep, Think for a Minute and Caravan of Love.
The members also speak openly about their socialist views, religion, money and their distrust of the music industry, revealing the ideas behind their deliberately unglamorous image and sharply observant lyrics. Ending with a concert for their home audience, this documentary captures The Housemartins at the moment they were becoming nationally famous while still maintaining the humour, friendship and political convictions that defined the band.

Back in Kattegat, however, the most dangerous battle is no longer being fought with Saxons. Horik becomes convinced that Ragnar has grown too powerful and secretly prepares to destroy him and his entire family. The Odyssey with Dan Snow

   2026    Culture    HD
Dan Snow follows the route of Odysseus across the Mediterranean, beginning with the world of Troy and the Bronze Age warriors who inspired Homer’s epic. Sailing through Greece and the Ionian islands, he explores places traditionally associated with the Cyclops, Circe, the Sirens and other episodes of the hero’s long journey home, while examining the archaeology and historical evidence behind the legends.
Along the way, Dan asks how much of the story may preserve memories of real places, peoples and events from the ancient Greek world. His voyage ends at Ithaca, where Odysseus’s struggle to return to his family reaches its climax. Combining myth, history, archaeology and travel, this documentary reveals how one ancient story became one of the most influential adventures ever told.
